Paul turned professional at the age of just 17. He served his apprenticeship with renowned coach, Alex Hay at the prestigious Woburn Golf & Country Club. Paul gained his European Tour Card at the first attempt aged only 19, played tournament golf from 1983-1991 in over 100 tour events and national Opens worldwide including Africa, the Australian PGA, Open and the Australian Masters.
Paul played three consecutive Open Championships including Muirfield ‘87, Royal Lytham & St. Anne’s ‘88 and Royal Troon ’89 and was fortunate enough to practice and compete with the best golfers of that era including five major champions and Ryder Cup players.
During this period, Paul had day-to-day experience of the best coaches including Denis Pugh and attended three tour training weeks.
Towards the end of his tournament career, Paul studied Sports Psychology which gave him an in-depth understanding of the key concepts required for optimal learning and performance.
Paul considers himself a student-centered coach and spends equal time studying technique and the mind in his continuous drive to be the best coach he can be.
